Praying with the news By Carol Dismore It's possible to rise above distress and anger to actively pray for our communities, as this poem expresses. Reading news reports this morning, suddenly with no forewarning, something struck my thought to drag it down.Caught off-balance, falling, reeling, down the vortex went my feeling -magne- tism pulling, pulling down. "Stop!" I tell myself with vigor.Love is infinitely bigger, lifting me instead of pulling down.Love denies what I am seeing, reaffirms the truth of being:God is everywhere. There is no "down." Waking "up" (no pun intended), all that downward pull is ended. Nothing can disturb my thought today.Praying now for those affected, every trace of sin rejected, praising God, I "bear a song away."
